FAQPage Schema Validator
Validates FAQPage JSON-LD on any URL. Valid FAQPage markup is one of the clearest signals ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews can read on a page.
Why FAQPage matters in AI search
FAQPage markup hands AI answer engines your questions and answers in a form they can read without guessing, which makes them easy to quote. It does not guarantee a citation; the content still has to answer the question well.
Aim for at least 5 questions with valid acceptedAnswer.text per page. Missing fields invalidate the entire block.
What the validator checks
It fetches the URL, finds every JSON-LD block and reports how many parse, how many are FAQPage, and how many question and answer pairs they hold. Each problem it finds is listed under Issues.
Common mistakes
- acceptedAnswer without a text field. One missing field invalidates the whole block.
- Questions in the markup that are not visible on the page.
- Invalid JSON, usually a trailing comma or an unescaped quote in an answer.
- Two FAQPage blocks on one page, often because a plugin and the theme both add markup.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will FAQPage markup give me rich results in Google?
- Probably not. Since August 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites. Search engines and AI answer engines still read the markup to understand the questions and answers on the page.
- How many questions should a page have?
- The validator flags fewer than five as a warning. Add as many as the page genuinely answers, and do not pad the list with questions nobody asks.
- Do the questions in the markup have to match the page?
- Yes. Google's guidelines require the questions and answers to be visible on the page. Markup for content a visitor cannot see may be ignored.
- Can I have more than one FAQPage block on a page?
- One block per page is the safe default. Duplicate blocks make it unclear which one counts, so merge them into a single FAQPage.
